Join Our Research

Clinical research is how new treatments become available to everyone. At Sky Community Medical Center, we bring sponsor-led studies close to home, so our neighbors can take part in medical progress without traveling far to do it. Learn how research works below, and join our registry to be the first to hear when a study opens that may be right for you.

What is Clinical Research?

Clinical research studies help doctors find better ways to prevent, detect, and treat health conditions. Every medicine available today was made possible by people who took part in a study. At Sky Community Medical Center, we make it easier for people in Chicago to take part in research close to home.

Why Your Participation Matters

Often, research happens far from the neighborhoods it's meant to help. We're changing that. Sky Community Medical Center brings clinical studies right here to the South Side, so you don't have to travel downtown or navigate a big hospital system to take part. When our neighbors take part in research, the treatments of tomorrow reflect the people who live here, and care improves for our families, our friends, and the generations after us.

Your Safety and Rights

Every study we conduct is reviewed and approved by an independent ethics board (IRB) whose job is to protect participants. Your information is kept confidential, your participation is always voluntary, and choosing not to join will never affect your regular medical care.

What to Expect

1. Learn about the study. Our team explains what the study involves, including visits, time, and any risks or benefits.

2. Ask questions. Take your time. Talk it over with family or your doctor.

3. Decide. If you choose to join, you'll sign an informed consent form confirming you understand the study.

4. Participate. Study visits take place at our site with our research team.

5. Leave anytime. You can stop participating at any time, for any reason.
